AAPS Cleaning ProtocolsSeptember 22, 2009 ✓ Commonly touched areas in schools, such as handrails, doorknobs, light switches, push plates, are cleaned throughout the school day by custodians and in the evening as part of the regular cleaning protocol. ✓ Schools have been provided with alcohol-based wipes for cleaning student desks and work areas. It is suggested that staff and students use the wipes to clean off hands and desks daily. ✓ Every reasonable effort will be made to continue to provide hand gel sanitizers to classrooms and instructional areas. ✓ Classrooms with sinks/soap/paper towels should follow the CDC recommendation of incorporating hand-washing time into the instructional day. ✓ Please continue to encourage donations of hand gel sanitizer and tissues. ✓ Computer keyboards can be cleaned using the individual wipes following the Apple recommendations.
✓ Cover your cough and sneezes as advised by the CDC which includes sneezing and coughing into a tissue or sleeve of the arm and cleaning hands immediately afterwards. ✓ Daily the custodial staff will also clean these areas: ✓ Wipe down handles/pulls/push plates/panic bars, light switches and hand rails daily ✓ In athletic areas, wall and equipment (i.e. moveable basketball hoops) padding are to be sprayed daily ✓ Wrestling mats are to be mopped daily ✓ Spray/mist walls in shower areas ✓ Spray/mist down benches in locker rooms ✓ Spray/mist weight equipment ✓ Head custodians are to spray/mist cafeteria tables after the lunch program |
