COURSE # 07163 Ceramics
and Sculpture
This course involves the design and creation of ceramic forms. Students
learn to shape the clay by hand, throw on the potter's wheel and apply
glazes. Assignments will involve the formation of utilitarian vessels
as well as the creation of sculptural forms. Decorating techniques may
vary according to the functional and/or aesthetic appeal of each form.
Performance, effort and quality of work are the grading criteria.
Grade: 9, 10, 11, 12
Prerequisite: 07158 Art and Design
Credits: .50 unit per semester
