MORE ABOUT HAZING
Huron High School is rich in tradition. Whether a student is a first, second, or third generation River Rat, hazing is NOT something on our list of items we call tradition. Hazing is any intentional, knowing, or reckless act that occurs on or off school property, by one person acting alone or with others that is directed at a student (or group of students) and endangers the mental or physical health of that student. What are Some Myths About Hazing?
How Do You Know if it is Hazing? If a student is unsure of whether an activity or behavior is hazing, consider the answers to the following questions:
Who is Responsible for Reporting Hazing? Everyone is. Anyone who witnesses or has knowledge about a hazing incident is responsible for reporting it. Students must take it to their coach, parent/guardian, Athletic Director, counselor, or other responsible adult as soon as possible. When a student reports a hazing incident, they are protected from retaliation. Reporting hazing is the first step to stopping it. |
