Captain's Leadership Forum
“Never doubt that a small number of committed people can change the world; indeed it’s all that ever has.” -Margaret Mead
The Huron Booster Club organizes and stages the Leadership Forum for Huron coaches, captains, seniors, student-athlete leaders, and parents. This forum was established several years ago to provide leadership training in the areas of conflict resolution, motivation of self and team, and good sportsmanship. It also provides a framework for coaches, parents, and co-captains to work together for a successful support system for their sport. The program also helps to familiarize coaches, parents, and co-captains with the Booster Club, its support programs and resources available to each team.
The Leadership Forum is held just before school starts each fall. Captains and coaches meet in the afternoon and are joined by their parents for dinner and a program. The groups then split up again and parents have a meeting to discuss parent leadership.
The program covers the responsibilities of co-captain parents including how to do the following:
Contact the athletic office,
Deposit funds to the team account,
Request payment for expensed, and
Organize the team banquets.
It is a great way to start off the year, meet the captains, and network with other team parents.
