Ann Arbor Huron High School - Business Department - Why Choose Business

WHY CHOOSE BUSINESS?

Business, economic, entrepreneurial principles are concepts that are essential to life for all students, whether they are bound for college or entering the work force.

Business and Technology education provides a wealth of skills that can be applied to any number of areas, both professional and personal.

Effective communication, problem-solving, critical thinking and time management skills, for instance, are helpful in any capacity of day-to-day life. Efficient financial management and the ability to organize or lead others are additional traits students may benefit from in any industry.

Understanding business and its structures may also help one become a better employee, or allow one to make better decisions as a consumer.

Our vocational courses teach the essential skills that are marketable and are a key passport to prepare students for immediate and successful employment in business-related occupations and/or for ownership and management of business enterprises.

Our students are introduced to a wide variety of business concepts and case studies through hands-on, project based learning projects. Every course in the department utilizes state-of-the-art technology to enhance the learning process.

From introductory keyboarding found in the Computer Applications course to advanced computerized accounting to career exploration and job shadowing, the Business Department is a valuable resource to every student who wants to get a head start on his or her future.
