Before Accepting A Job Offer

There are many things to consider when you are offered a job. But before you consider accepting a job offer, consider all the factors about the job. It is important to thoroughly evaluate the job and the company before you make your final decision. Make sure that you have asked those key questions about the job responsibilities, about the pay range, starting salary and most importantly about your benefits.

Your job salary should be in line with those salaries paid or similar job in the community and other companies. Take time to do some research on line. When comparing one job against another when making your final choice, you should probably consider a job with an employer that pays a more reasonable salary or gives you the potential for raises when you have received positive performance evaluations.

However, a lower salary is sometimes considered when it is balanced against benefits or excellent opportunities for advancement. A good fringe benefit can be the deciding factor. A fringe benefit is that financial extra in your pay that you will receive in addition to your regular paycheck.

Other things to consider are the location of the job. What will be your working conditions? How many hours will you be required to work? Are there opportunities for advancement?

Ask questions of your prospective employer. Check to see if the company provides any of the following fringe benefits:

> Insurance for medical, dental, health? If so how much will the employer pay? How much will you pay?

>Sick Pay for any days you will be out sick and unable to come to work. Find out how many paid sick days are available to you each year.

>Vacation Days if available. Will you receive paid vacation time? How many days must you work before you become eligible? months? years? How many days will you receive?

>Bonuses? Some companies pay their employees a yearly or holiday bonus. If so, ask how the amounts are determined.

>Retirement Packages or Proft-Sharing Plans are offered to employees. Does the company have a 401(k) program? Does the company contribute a set amount to a retirement plan? Or are you entitled to a percentage of a profit-sharing plan? Will a portion of your income be contributed to one of these plans? When can you begin to contribute? Do you have to work a certain amount of months? years?

In addition , you should find out everything you will need to now when you start your first day of work. Like, who should you report to on the first day? What location will you be working in. Should you bring anything with you when you report your first day?

Lastly, if you do decide to accept a job offer, let the interviewer know. Tell the interviewer you are glad to accept the offer.
