Mentoring can be found in our Co-op and work experience opportunities.
Mentoring -provides support and encouragement to a student at the worksite. This is a formally established relationship. Students learn rules, norms, and expectations of the workplace from mentors. They also gain valuable career insight and guidance based on the personal career experiences of their mentors.
Mentors typically serve as resources to students; the mentor becomes a student's "other teacher", resolving personal and work-related problems, issues, and questions.
Some common characteristics of mentoring are:
*including a learning activity beyond work responsibilities
*providing an experienced employee to serve as coach and advisor
*including career insights and showing how core acadmic skills relate to work success.
