SAE Student Engineer Day brings textbook theory to the real workplace by offering students a hands-on opportunity in the automotive industry. Each student is paired with an engineer of similar career interests for the day.
This is the second time we have participated in the SAE Student Engineer Day. Students who participate will be asked to provide their own transportation to and from the SAE placement. This Detroit Chapter of SAE that sponsors this job shadow activity matches interested students with participating engineers and tries to place them within a reasonsible driving distance from school. Last year all students visited Toyota Technical Center in Ann Arbor and we hope for the same arrangement for this year. However, if we have a large group of interested students Toyota may not be able to accommodate all of our requests. SAE will then place students with other engineers within reasonable driving distance to Huron. Last year SAE was the only able to accommodate requests from Juniors and Seniors. Students under 16 years old or without drivers license will have to arrange transportation by a parent/guardian.
To participate students must complete the following steps:
1) Complete and return the SAE application with the appropriate signatures.
2) You will find the signature areas on the back of the application.
a) parent
b) student
c) recommending teacher
Deadline is December 12, 2003
3) Complete the Parent Notification and Consent Form *(To be picked up after Winter Break)
4) Family Permission for Field Trip/Activity Transportation in a Private Vehicle * (to be picked up after the Winter Break)
If you have any questions contact the COE Job Placement Office at 994-2077.
