Huron Field Hockey Coaching Staff

 

Tia Sutton
Varsity Coach

Tia Sutton is a 1995 Huron graduate and a 2000 University of Michigan graduate, with a degree in Aerospace Engineering, and she currently works at the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency.

Tia was a goalie at Huron for 3 years, and was a coach and official with Rec & Ed while at Huron. She began coaching JV Green in 1996, assistant coached the Varsity team from 2006-2008, and is returning for a 3rd year as Varsity Co-Head Coach in 2011

 

Nancy Cox
Varsity Coach

Nancy Cox, an occupational therapist at the University of Michigan Hospital, played field hockey for four years at Western Michigan University. Nancy coached at Pioneer High School for 16 years and was the Region 9 Coaching Director for Futures for many years.

In 1998, Nancy joined the Michigan Field Hockey Program as an Assistant to then Head Coach and two time Olympian - Marcia Pankratz.  In 2001 Nancy assisted the Wolverines in winning the first NCAA National Championship ever won by a women's team at Michigan.  In 2005 Nancy became Michigan's fifth Head Field Hockey Coach.  

During the course of Nancy's head coaching tenure Michigan went on to win the 2005 Big Ten Field Hockey Tournament, 2007 Big Ten Championship and succeeded in making it to the final eight in the NCAA tournament in 2005 and 2007. The Wolverines under Nancy's leadership compiled a 56 - 31 record.  In December of '08 Nancy officially retired from the University of Michigan Athletic Department to return to her passion of assisting youth in developing and growing their hockey skills and knowledge at the interscholastic level.

Recognized as the USFHA Developmental Coach of the Year in 1999, Big Ten Coach of the Year in '07 and earning a Level II USFHA Coaching Certification with recommendation to Level III Nancy has clearly demonstrated the ability to develop hockey athletes and programs.

Nancy joined the Huron Field Hockey Program in 2010 and returns to a 2nd year as the Varsity Co-Head Coach in 2011.

 

Heather Kallus
JV Green Coach

JV Green: Heather Kallus Galbraith is the head JV Green coach. She is a 1999 Greenhills graduate, 2003 Williams University graduate, has a Masters in Public Health from the University of Michigan, and is currently a consultant at Thomson Reuters.

Heather played field hockey all four years at Greenhills and was a four-year letter-winner at Williams. Heather began coaching JV Green in 2005.

 

Lizzy Gitterman
JV Assistant Green Coach
Lizzy Gitterman, the assistant JV Green coach, is a 2007 Huron graduate; and a four-year field hockey player at Huron. Lizzy currently attends Eastern Michigan University, and is pursuing a degree in Nursing. She began coaching at Huron in 2008.

 

Jamie Cohen
JV Gold Coach

Jamie Cohen is returning as JV Gold head coach in 2011. Jamie is a 2006 Huron graduate, where she played field hockey all four years.

Jamie has a degree in Photographic Technology from Washtenaw Community College, and owns a portrait photography business.
