Huron has its own in-house police officer to serve the school and Huron community. The officer helps out by administering parking tickets, and by protecting students from harassment, larceny, and physical harm from others. By associating with the staff and student, the officer tries to develop comfortable relationships that promote easy communication. The officer intercedes when he sees problems developing.
The police officer plays a key role in maintaining a safe and orderly school environment. The officer is primarily responsible for taking appropriate action on all violations of the law that occur on school property, both interior and exterior areas of the building.
Duties include checking on unauthorized persons in the building, issuing tickets for violations of parking, and driving regulations as posted by the city police, and investigating incidents such as thefts, assaults, concealed weapons, drugs, vandalism.
