Goals

It is the underlying policy of the Special Education Department at Huron that students become increasingly more responsible for themselves, their work, and their world as they develop effective coping strategies.

In order to carry out this policy, some students may require more support than others.

The following is a partial list of the goals of the Special Education Department:

1. To encourage students to become increasingly more responsible for themselves.
2. To assist students in moving effectively from maximum to minimum amount of support for independent earning/living.
3. To facilitate students' use of community resources.
4. To enable students to complete the requirements leading to high school graduation.
5. To prepare students for productive work and economic responsibility.
6. To enable students to experience personal growth by developing their individual talents.
