Three Steps for Managing Stress
The following is a simple three-step management technique to help student cope with stress.

Step 1 Identify the source of stress. In order to manage stress better, we must identify from where it is coming. Identifying the source of stress can be trickier than it might seem at first.
Step 2 Change the way we handle stress. We can learn to handle stress differently. Instead of engaging in negative thinking we can learn to think positevely. Instead of ignoring stress we can learn to think positively. Instead of ignoring stress we can deal with it head-on, or discuss it with a supportive person, such as your counselor.
Step 3

In addition to the three-step technique, there are many activities people engage in that tend to reduce stress, including:

  • physical exercise
  • spending time along, resting
  • listening to music
  • practicing yoga or meditation
  • hanging out with friends
  • participating in creative efforts like painting, photography, chorus, etc.
