Multicultural Foods

Parenting will provide you with knowledge of the basic skills and attitudes needed o become responsible and caring caregivers. This course examines personal readiness to become a parent, explores issues related to raising healthy children, builds positive adult-child relationships, and provides practical experience with children.

This class is provided to introduce the students to international cuisines.

Foods of a particular culture can be very intimidating due to umfamiliar ingredients or cooking techniques. Each culture's cuisine should be recognized for its uniqueness. Whether it's Japanese cuisine known for being "healthy" or regional cuisine from New Orleans that is created from the contributions of the French, African, and West Indian's.

From each of these we learn about the heritage, and origins of symbols, history, and traditions related to food especially in celebration.

The selection, preparations, and serving of these foods are considered to be an art form to the chef's around the world.

In addition, a variety of learning methods are used in this class. Through discussion, guest speakers, notes, laboratory, computer research assignments, quizzes and tests, studnets will earn their final grade for this class.
