Parenting
will provide you with knowledge of the basic skills and attitudes needed
o become responsible and caring caregivers. This course examines personal
readiness to become a parent, explores issues related to raising healthy
children, builds positive adult-child relationships, and provides practical
experience with children.
This class
is provided to introduce the students to international cuisines.
Foods of
a particular culture can be very intimidating due to umfamiliar
ingredients or cooking techniques. Each culture's cuisine should be recognized
for its uniqueness. Whether it's Japanese cuisine known for being "healthy"
or regional cuisine from New Orleans that is created from the contributions
of the French, African, and West Indian's.
From
each of these we learn about the heritage, and origins of symbols, history,
and traditions related to food especially in celebration.
The selection,
preparations, and serving of these foods are considered to be an art form
to the chef's around the world.
In addition,
a variety of learning methods are used in this class. Through discussion,
guest speakers, notes, laboratory, computer research assignments, quizzes
and tests, studnets will earn their final grade for this class.
