1st Annual A2 Huron/Pioneer Hoops-4-a-Cause

On Friday, February 20, 2009 the Huron and Pioneer women’s basketball programs collaborated to raise money for Livestrong at the YMCA. We watched the cross-town rivals battle in a SEC matchup at Pioneer High School while supporting the Ann Arbor YMCA’s cancer survivorship program. Hoops 4 a Cause t-shirts were pre-sold for $5 and each shirt allowed one free game admission to the Hoops 4 a Cause game on Feb. 20. T-shirts can be purchased from Huron or Pioneer players and coaches. Also, a general sale of t-shirts took place during the week of February 16-20 at both high schools.

Additionally, six gift baskets, prepared by the individual Pioneer and Huron teams, were raffled off at halftime of the Varsity game. Raffle tickets were $1 ($3 for 5 and $5 for 10). All proceeds from the t-shirt sales, raffle ticket sales and game concessions were donated to Livestrong at the YMCA program.

The Freshman basketball game started at 4:00 PM, followed by the JV game and the Varsity game, scheduled to begin at 7:00 PM. Thanks for joining us for a charitable and exciting night of Ann Arbor girls basketball -- and for supporting our local YMCA.
