Current team members should access TEAM NEWS for weekly and daily updates.

Message from the Coaches:
Huron Women's Water Polo starts practice on Monday, March 14, afterschool, at 3:45pm. The Spring season lasts through the end of May.
If you're looking for a Huron sport that is exciting, Water Polo brings together the best aspects of swimming, lacrosse, soccer, basketball and field hockey. Huron Women's Water Polo has a tradition of success and providing a good atmosphere for student-athletes. Also, being that it is a no cut sport, the coaches are committed to everyone's development on JV and Varsity.
For club swimmers, Water Polo at Huron will increase your strength and endurance. Many Huron standout swimmers started out on the Water Polo team. And, the Top 10 Swimming Teams in the state are dominated by schools that play Water Polo.
Water polo success can create new opportunities. And, there are many club swimmers who've gone on to play collegiate, and even Olympic level water polo.
We're encouraging all interested 9th-12th graders to come to the pool to meet the team and the coaching staff.
A swimming background is helpful. But, experience isn't necessary. All players get playing time and a chance to compete and improve.
Please come on out, make some new friends and be part of a memorable school experience.
Ask any current water polo player you see in the hallways about how great the sport and team is, especially team captains Kelcy Barott, Arielle Viviano, Ellen Dowling, and Kara Bowers.
Team notes:
All players are given a chance to develop and improve.
It usually takes about 2 seasons for players to get used to the sport and progress to Varsity. However, players can earn a Varsity letter as freshmen or sophomores if they make the roster. Seniors are automatically awarded a letter, and in most cases are also automatically on the Varsity playing roster.
Huron was the first Women's water polo team in Michigan and won the first seven organized state competitions.
We last won the state championship in 2001 led by Huron graduate, Betsey Armstrong, who is currently the starting goalie for the US Women's national team.
Several other Huron graduates have obtained collegiate scholarships and many top swimming athletes have gone on to play competitive water polo or swim in college.
Other teams in the area are Skyline, Pioneer, Saline, Dexter and Chelsea. That number continues to grow as the sport gains in popularity.
A season with Huron Water Polo can lead to a lifetime of pride and friendship. Come on out and be part of one of Huron's most successful athletic programs as we make a run at a 9th State Championship!
Tryout Criteria:
Attendance, effort and work ethic. The ability to swim is essential in order to compete, but isn't necessary at try-out time. Swim instruction and training is provided for those with no, or little, swimming background and for experienced swimmers who are continually working to improve their stroke.
